Disability Nonprofit of the week:
Let us introduce you to this Brooklyn New York based Nonprofit: The Axis Project
The Axis Project
The Axis Project
-
Born from the urgent need for meaningful community and sustained rehabilitation opportunities for people with disabilities, George Gallegofounded The Axis Project to fill the gaps left by traditional systems. Through his work supporting individuals transitioning from nursing homes to independent living, he witnessed how isolation, limited social options, and inadequate insurance-covered therapy created cycles of regression and disconnection.
-
The Axis Project was created to move beyond clinical care—establishing an inclusive community hub where people with disabilities and older adults can move, create, socialize, and grow. More than a facility, it is a catalyst for societal change, building spaces that are physically accessible, socially welcoming, and rooted in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live fully, contribute meaningfully, and be celebrated.
